Introduction

The ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe is one of the first Socket AM2+ mainboards by asus. It supports AM2 CPUs and the new AM2+ CPUs (Phenom). The chipset is AMD 790FX. There exists also a Deluxe/WIFI version of this mainboard.

There are Linux drivers for this board on the ASUS homepage but since my download always got stuck after loading the half file (on all mirrors), I decided to try the in kernel-support. All critical functions are working here with the in-kernel drivers.

Kernel

I use the gentoo-sources 2.6.23-r4 (newest atm). All necessary drivers should be included. The kernel-config paths to the appropriate entries will be added later.

The chipset is AMD.

For IDE the ATI chipsets should be selected.

Serial-ATA should work with the AHCI drivers.

The sound is using intel_hda drivers.

Powernow support can be added if enabled in bios.

USB is working out of the box with the usual generic usb options enabled.

Network is using a sky2 driver (Yukon2) If you encounter problems with the transfer of large files it is recommended (by several users of this chip) to use the noacpi option for kernel on bootup (in grub). This seems to solve issues.
