If you receive messeges like "High Temperature reached" try "acpi=off" as a kernel option.

The problem here is the thermal.ko-module shutting down the pc. If you just rename or remove this module everything will work fine, fine, fine.
I have actually added an image of the latest amd64-image (install-amd64-minimal-2008.0-r1.iso) with a renamed thermal.ko-module (so it boots) here:
This will boot without acpi=off or any other settings.

Also, a more recent (2.6.27.rcX) kernel disables the trip-point of the ACPI if it is below 0. (The one on the tx2500-BIOS is set at -273C)
