emerge -av media-tv/linuxtv-dvb-headers

Configure the kernel as explained in TV Tuner and enable support for DiBcom DiB0700 USB DVB devices (search for dib0700 for the path). Having compiled the kernel, you can load the module dvb-usb-dib0700:

modprobe dvb-usb-dib0700

Check the output of dmesg if this succeeded. It should look like this:

Code: dmesg
dib0700: loaded with support for 7 different device-types
dvb-usb: found a 'Pinnacle PCTV 72e' in cold state, will try to load a firmware
firmware: requesting dvb-usb-dib0700-1.10.fw
dvb-usb: downloading firmware from file 'dvb-usb-dib0700-1.10.fw'
dib0700: firmware started successfully.
dvb-usb: found a 'Pinnacle PCTV 72e' in warm state.
dvb-usb: will pass the complete MPEG2 transport stream to the software demuxer.
DVB: registering new adapter (Pinnacle PCTV 72e)
DVB: registering frontend 0 (DiBcom 7000PC)...
DiB0070: successfully identified
input: IR-receiver inside an USB DVB receiver as /class/input/input1
dvb-usb: schedule remote query interval to 150 msecs.
dvb-usb: Pinnacle PCTV 72e successfully initialized and connected.
usbcore: registered new interface driver dvb_usb_dib0700

Code: Installing the firmware
tar xvjf firmwaretargz.ppt
rm firmwaretargz.ppt
mkdir -p /lib/firmware/
mv dvb-usb-dib0700-1.10.fw /lib/firmware/

If you are having problems with your DVB-T device, check the output of dmesg. If you're getting the message "ERROR IN SETTING DMX_FILTER" in MPlayer, you have probably used the VDR channel list. Use the tzap channel list instead.
